The day in sports

Haven't posted in a while as I have been very busy. I have some big stuff planned for next week so check back for the announcement.

Interesting day in sports today. First of all, I had a soccer game and it was another loss. Thankfully I didn't have to play in goal. The loss mercifully brings the season to an end. This team just never really clicked. AS the weather begins to get cold I move to indoor soccer.

- More importantly Michigan rolls big over Purdue. Michigan dominated Purdue in every facet of the game (kiss my tukas Kirk Herbstreit). This is the team people had playing in the Sugar Bowl. This team is that good but two atrocious special teams games and they are out of the picture. Next week they take on Big Ten leader Michigan State to keep in the conference title hunt. That will be a huge game.

- The other Big Ten game of note is Wisconsin losing to Northwestern. Wow. That is ugly. Ohio State beat up Indiana (and no there offense isn't back on track it was IU for Pete's sake), Iowa took care of Penn State, and Minnesota put it to lowly Illinois - no surprises. If Michigan beats Michigan State the Ohio State visit to Ann Arbor looms large.

- As we speak my alma matter is beating Northern Illinois 34-18. NIU was the toast of the media but old BGSU is going to ruin the party.

- In case you were wondering, yes Buffalo did win a game today. In fact they rallied from 14-points down to win for the first time in 19 tries. Go Bulls!

- In golf, it looks like Vijay Singh is making a run for Player of the Year and the Money Title as he leads the Funai classic after three rounds. Tiger made a run but had three bogey on the back nine to fall six back of the lead. That will be nearly impossible to get back as the Funai is all about birdies. The interesting thing about Singh and Tiger is that it takes Singh almost twice as many tournaments to win the same amount (money and victories). Before this week Tiger had won $6,278,746 in 16 tournaments while Vijay had won $6,107,507 but needed 30 tournaments to do it. In that span Tiger has five wins and Vijay three. Even given all that if Vijay wins on Sunday I think he wraps up the Player of the Year award and the Money Title unless Tiger Wins the Tour Championship.

- Tonight of course we have the World Series. I think the Marlins pull it off and win the whole thing tonight!

IU will win a football game someday!

...

Oh, all right, we won't. Our football team is an embarassment. The OSU game sold out because 40,000 people drove from Ohio to watch their team violate ours. But hey, at least we have a good basketball team, right? Heh.
