Spam getting worse

Depressing San Francisco Chronicle article on an increase in Spam and a new spurt of email theft:

Brightmail has detected a 600 percent increase in spam. In April 2001, the network counted nearly 700,000 spam attacks, in which hundreds of versions of a message are sent to email accounts worldwide in one shot. Twelve months later, Brightmail counted 4.3 million such attacks.

This article is a great example of why Spam can not simply be left to the “market.” Their is theft, deception, and a host of other illegal activities involved. The government can and should take action. Soon I will explain in greater detail how Ohio is going to do just that . . . Stay tuned.
