Update: For some reason I forgot to mention this Josh Sargent post which has started a mini-debate on comments.
Comment sections can be good and they can be bad. I like the feedback and they are built into MT so it was a no-brainer for me. If you want an interesting example of what can develop through google and comments, however, check out this post and its resulting comments.
