Matrix Reloaded

On Saturday I at last went and saw the Matrix sequel. I won’t bore you with a long drawn out review. I am not that big of a fan and I don’t have that much to say. If you want the scoop check out the Blogcritics.org: The Matrix Reloaded Reviews and News page.

Overall, I thought the movie was entertaining and interesting. That is saying a lot for a movie these days. It kept my interest for the most part and, as everyone will attest, the freeway scenes were kinda cool. If I was in charge, however, I would have cut the other fights back and ditched some of the other parts that were not crucial to the plot. It just seemed a tad too long and a tad too stretched in places. I mean we get the whole kung-fu fighting thing for Pete’s sake, don’t beat us over the head with it. For a moment I thought I was at a Jackie Chan movie. The whole Neo REALLY loves Trinity thing was over the top at times too. I can only take so much angst and profession of undying love from Keanu Reeves. The whole temple dance/love making scene went on for too long only to end in impotence. The plausibility of the complex plot is stretched to the breaking point if you stop to think about it too much.

This is really just one of those cool movies you need to just visually take in and enjoy. Get on the ride and go for it. Isn’t that what Hollywood is really about anyway?
