Second Guessing on Intelligence
by Kevin
Stuart Buck offers a theory on why might not be wise to second guess the president on intelligence:
It might be useful to remember that any President is likely going to have to keep the best intel secret. I’m certainly no intelligence expert, but I’ve read a few books on the CIA, and it seems fairly clear that whenever intelligence is successful, it is going to be kept secret for a very long time. An intel operation that becomes public knowledge is almost by definition a failure, or is about to become a failure in the very near future.
It might be speculation, as Buck admits, but it is worth thinking about. I have always held that this kind of nit picking and second guessing is based on a tiny sliver of knowledge. But hey, it appears the Democrats are going with it full bore anyways.
Remember, Kevin. It’s not just the Democrats who do this. When it’s a Democrat on the hot seat, the Republicans are just as guilty. When we don’t get our way, we do whatever we can to discredit the person who did. It’s the American way.
