Don't Think, Blog

I really thought I would totally stay away from The Blogosphere and attend to the death of my grandmother. But instead what I have found is that I need the distraction and the feedback. It is weird how much blogging is weaved into my life and the way I think. It is a habit now and a big part of my mental exercise. I stayed away some but I also felt drawn back to it.

The funeral is Wednesday, so we are taking off in the morning and coming back Thursday. I appreciate everyone’s condolences and prayers. It is neat to think about people I feel like I know and trust, and yet have never met, praying for me and my family. That is a part of the blogosphere that is hard to explain to an “outsider.”

To mangle a quote from Bruce Cockburn: “I guess something you” said “made me remember that, I guess I’m saying thanks for that.”

So sorry to hear of your loss. The same thing happened to me last year when my mother died. Emails from readers around N. America, total strangers for the most part. I will never forget their generosity. It sounds so trite to say this, but every little note made a huge difference. A real lesson to me about reaching out to others.
