Steelers beat up Titans

The football gods granted a little salve for my Psyche today as the Steelers beat up the Tennessee Titans 34-7. After poor production in the pre-season, the starting offense didn’t score a touchdown, all the experts were down on the Steelers predicting a slump for Ben Roethlisberger and a lack of a running game with Jerome Bettis and Duce Staley out. Heck, Boomer Easison had the Titans as his upset of the week pick.

Well, the Steelers offense looks just fine thank you. Ben was 9 of 11 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Third string running back Wilie Parker torched the Titans for 160 yards rushing and added 48 receiving. Rookie tight end Heath Miller found the end zone as did Antwan Randall-El on a 63 yard bomb. The defense picked up where it left off in pre-season recovering two fumble and grabbing two interceptions.

Granted, all of this was against a mediocre Titans team. But still the Steelers clearly shook off the rust and clicked. They face a Houston next week before heading to Foxboro for a rematch with the Patriots. I can’t wait.
