Do Not Pray For Easy Lives
by Kevin
Stumbled upon a book/pamphlet at the library book sale called Duty by the famous Episcopalian Bishop Phillips Brooks. It includes this quote which I thought worth passing along:
Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle. Every day you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God.

I prayed this prayer every day years ago. It is a dangerous prayer! I had the most challenging year ever but I did grow stronger in my faith and walk with God. I have never forgotten it.
