I am going to try and jump start this blog (in reality the original blog) and begin posting again.

I have often thought about making it a blog focused on one particular interest of mine: sports, my faith, my family, etc. But I never really had the time or energy to pull something like that off.

But when I decided to change hosting companies, and redo somethings on the domain, it seemed like a waste to put the time in and not “use” it.

And as I was connecting this blog to my Twitter account I realized that it was the perfect connection. “Kevin’s Life” is the twitter account I created as a kind of politics free zone. It is the account I use for sports and my personal life and opinions. It made perfect sense to connect this blog to that account and have it share that content focus.

So this will be the place I talk about my life; about my career challenges (gigantic understatement); life as a father of two young kids married to his high school sweetheart; being a Michigan Wolverine and Pittsburgh Steelers fan in Columbus, Ohio; being active in our local church; and whatever else seems worth sharing.

As always, comments and feedback welcome and appreciated.

After much consternation, and mucking about, I have finally settled the look and content of my various domains around the web. I thought it would be handy to outline things here for clarity of use.

Kevin Holtsberry Dot Com has two components:

The home page includes a landing page with feeds from all of my sites as well as a “News” blog which will provide updates about the various domains and my professional life.

KH: The Blog will be a personal blog. It has the tag line “Faith, Family, Football” because those are the subjects that are likely to be covered there (along with some golf but that threw off the alliteration.

My newst venture is Ohio Politics Online and that also has two components:

The main page is a blog that covers Ohio politics with news, links, analysis and opinion.

But it also has a “hub” page which is a collection of feeds from news sites, blogs, YouTube, and other sources. Again, all with the focus of Ohio politics. The goal is to provide one handy page to go to for the latest news and opinion from around the state.

Another new site is The Right Reads. This site seeks to do two things:

Offer reviews, interviews, links and commentary on books of interest to conservatives or those on the center-right side of the political spectrum.

Spark and engage debate about the future of the Right through the lens of books and ideas.

This is not to be confused with my long standing book/literary blog Collected Miscellany. CM will continue to offer news, views, reviews and interview from the world of books, but those works with a political bent – or a focus on conservatism – will be covered at The Right Reads.

I also wanted to note that I have joined up at the new Columbus Examiner. And you can find my writing there in two places:

Columbus Book Examiner is the place for Central Ohio Book fans to keep abreast of the latest news and events; with reviews and interviews as well. Think of it as CM with a Columbus focus.

Columbus Conservative Examiner is where I will offer my opinions on and analysis of Ohio politics. I am still figuring out the coverage there, but I imagine there will be a good amount of overlap between OPO and Conservative Examiner.

I hope this outline is helpful. It is my hope that my having these different sources – niches if you will – will allow everyone to access the content they want without having to skim through content they don’t.

As always feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

I have been playing around with a new WP plugin called Twitter Tools. I am hoping to use it as an easy way to add content to the sideblog. After some initial problems, I think I have worked out the kinks.

The basic idea is to use Twitter, Twit This, and Twitter Tools to easily add comments and interesting links to the sidebar without taking the time to post using the conventional WP admin panel. These status updates and links will be posted automatically to the sideblog on the left. The longer posts will remain in the center column.

So keep an eye on the left had sidebar for regularly updated links and commentary.

OK, after much mucking about I finally decided what I am going to do with this blog. I am not going to syndicate the content from my other blogs.

Instead, I am just going to use this as a more personal blog. I will post about sports, family, culture, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

The last couple of posts from my other blogs, however, are now available on the top of the left sidebar. Just in case you wonder what I am up to on the other sites.

So to clear things up:

Books = Collected Miscellany

Politics/election 2008 = Obama’s Con

Everything Else = this site

I am sure this has been helpful for the 20 visitors I get a day . . .
